Meet The Artisan

Jennifer Jasper is a traditional leather artisan and the hands behind Burton Hill Leather. A self-described 'late-bloomer' to the trade, Jennifer spent years after college building airplanes and helicopters — a career defined by extreme mechanical precision and strict tolerances. After a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis cut the aerospace journey short, she discovered the world of heritage leatherworking.

Fueled first by a need for a new path, and then by a deep passion for the absolute awesomeness of the craft, Jennifer now applies that same blueprint-level precision to hand-crafting backpacks (rugged and refined), elegant handbags and wallets built exactly the way they were fifty years ago. Built to be used, aged, and passed down. You can explore her lifelong collection here on this shop Burton Hill Leather or follow her at her daily workbench journey on Instagram at @burtonhillleather.

On the Blocks:

The Burton Backpack and The Brazos Duffle

Current Stage:

Hand skiving edges and preparing for traditional saddle stitching. Premium hardware from our supplier has arrived, and production is back underway after a brief pause.

Next Release:

The next release will include a limited run of handcrafted leather goods. Every release is intentionally small. Most collections include only a handful of pieces, and once they're gone, they're gone.

Why Handcrafted Leather Matters

Burton Hill Leather is made in Texas — by hand, by a real person, with full-grain leather that doesn't quit. Discover the story behind the brand.

Not all leather is created equal. We use only full-grain hide — the strongest, most durable layer — because what you carry every day deserves to last a lifetime.

From The Bench

Last week Burton Hill Leather was unexpectedly quiet while I recovered from emergency dental surgery. Recovery went well, but it did pause production for a few days.

This week I am back in the shop, getting projects moving again and putting the finishing touches on the next collection.

Thank you for supporting a true one-person leather shop. Every order, every newsletter signup, and every kind message helps keep this little Texas workshop going.

-I appreciate your patience.
