Meet The Artisan

Jennifer Jasper is a traditional leather artisan and the hands behind Burton Hill Leather. A self-described 'late-bloomer' to the trade, Jennifer spent years after college building airplanes and helicopters — a career defined by extreme mechanical precision and strict tolerances. After a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis cut the aerospace journey short, she discovered the world of heritage leatherworking.

Fueled first by a need for a new path, and then by a deep passion for the absolute awesomeness of the craft, Jennifer now applies that same blueprint-level precision to hand-crafting backpacks (rugged and refined), elegant handbags and wallets built exactly the way they were fifty years ago. Built to be used, aged, and passed down. Meet The Lollie Tote

A one-of-a-kind turquoise tote handcrafted from Crazy Horse Laredo pull-up leather — sourced from Mexico. Not made from perfect leather. Made from the real thing.

A Patina That's Unique

The hide deepens and darkens wherever it's touched, flexed, or worn. Natural bug bites in the leather absorbed dye differently — creating organic color variations woven throughout the turquoise. No two bags will ever look the same.

No Waste

Where most makers discard the shoulders and elbows of a hide for their irregular density, we use them. The lines, grooves, and natural character of those sections are featured prominently in the pocket — turning what others throw away into the most distinctive part of the bag.

Built To Last A Lifetime

Full-grain leather. 30" drop handles. 12-gauge shotgun shell rivets. Industrial stitching with heavy backstitching at stress points. Handcrafted in small batches at Burton Hill Leather.

Current Stage:

Hand skiving edges and preparing for traditional saddle stitching. Premium hardware from our supplier has arrived, and production is back underway after a brief pause.

Next Release:

The next release will include a limited run of handcrafted leather goods. Every release is intentionally small. Most collections include only a handful of pieces, and once they're gone, they're gone.

From The Bench

Last week Burton Hill Leather was unexpectedly quiet while I recovered from emergency dental surgery. Recovery went well, but it did pause production for a few days.

This week I am back in the shop, getting projects moving again and putting the finishing touches on the next collection.
